Yangon (1) - Bagan (2) - Irrawady Cruise (2) - Mandalay (2) - Inle Lake (3) - Yangon (1)
Your luxury travel adventure in Myanmar combines the essential destinations and sights of this beautiful country and adds-on a 2-night cruise on the Irrawaddy River, a decadent tribute to Burma’s colonial past.
A more engaging Myanmar experience for the luxury traveller adds on a must-do luxury river cruise on the Irrawaddy between Bagan and Mandalay and more time spent exploring the remote lakeside communities of Inle Lake. Your odyssey begins in the erstwhile Rangoon at one its celebrated historical hotels, the perfect way to feel the Burma of yore. After a walking tour of its colonial architecture, you visit Scotts Market, the quintessential bazaar of the Orient. Fly to Bagan, where the next two days are spent exploring the magnificent temples and stupas scattered across the plains - seeing them both by horse cart, bicycle, and an unforgettable sunrise hot air balloon flight.
Board your luxury river cruiser and sail north towards Mandalay over the next three days, as you enjoy fine service, great views of the river and local life, and occasional forays ashore. In Mandalay, you will receive insights into Mahamuni Buddhism through interactions with people and their temples. Finally fly to Inle Lake, where you spend time on the picture-postcard lake as you travel by boat to remote lakeside villages and see firsthand their unique occupations adapted to local conditions, their lifestyle and their food. Your last stop is back in Yangon, where you will see the jaw-dropping golden domed Shwedagon Pagoda - best seen just before sunset when the fading light creates magic with gold.
